Comparison of Professional Carpet Cleaning Methods – What is the best carpet cleaning method?

Choosing the correct method for cleaning carpet is critical.
What is the best way to clean carpet? There are five basic methods for cleaning carpet:
1) Carpet Shampooing
2) Dry Powder Method
3) Bonnet Cleaning
4) External Extraction Method
5) Encapsulation

The choice of the the best carpet cleaning method is extremely important.
Some carpet cleaning methods, such as carpet shampooing and dry powder, leave residues which promote re-soiling and defeat the whole purpose of cleaning.
Some methods, such as bonnet cleaning, actually damage the carpet fibers and shorten the life of cut-pile carpet.
Check with the carpet manufacturer for recommendations.
The maintenance brochure published by the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, Shaw Industries, recommends professional carpet cleaning over “Do-It-Yourself”.

Have you ever noticed that nearly all detergents are alkaline? Why? Because most soil is acidic!
pH is the measurement used to determine the relative alkalinity, acidity or neutrality of a solution. All other things being equal, the higher the pH, the better the cleaning. There is a 10-fold increase in alkalinity or acidity for each pH unit increase. Also, the lower the pH, the more stable the dyes in carpets, rugs and upholstery.
